Caymont Ventures?

We are a venture capital fund focused on methodically allocating capital and providing strategic advice to relentless teams. Our focus is Seed through Series A investments, placing us right at the inception of a company’s growth journey.

Who are we?

I am Eric Alfuth, a financial and technology enthusiast who’s always been eager to learn. My career started as an equity research analyst covering the likes of Enron (which we issued one of the first sell ratings). Post the energy downturn, I spent a few years managing a $4 billion fund with AIG before transitioning to a distressed debt hedge fund.

After nearly a decade on Wall Street I wanted to learn how companies operate from the inside, so I became CFO of a public energy company. Following an acquisition, I joined a McKinsey & Co team as CFO for a restructuring project and later partnered with a team to raise $250 million of private equity capital.

For several years I have been an active angel investor, so upon the sale of our last company I had the opportunity to focus full-time on investing in start-up companies. In 2019 I launched Caymont Ventures to focus on Seed - Series A investments along with serving as an advisory to companies big and small.

Why you should (or should not) read what we write?

Our writing serves a dual purpose. First we aim to harness our experience to educate start-up teams and those interested in the angel and venture capital space. Second we want to build a platform for sharing thoughts and ideas about our investments and showcasing the stories of our portfolio companies.

We primarily focus on the venture capital space, steering clear of public equities or macroeconomic theories—those topics are best left to our friends on Wall Street. However, if you're curious to explore the venture capital world, start-up companies, or the process of building a business, then we welcome you to our discussions.
